Warhammer Quest
Hostile Settlements
By Ted
A hostile settlement is any settlement in which the Warrior's race
or Warrior Type is not welcome.
Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Halflings are all welcome in human settlements
(Dark Elves aren't really welcome, but they can impersonate Wood Elves or High Elves, and
they have their own special rules for operating in human settlements).
The rules for settlements of other races specify what races and Warrior
types are welcome.
Rules
Unwelcome warriors cannot visit a hostile settlement without a warrior of
a welcome race/type to escort them.
Unwelcome warriors suffer a -1 penalty to all Special Location and Stock
rolls.
Unwelcome warriors suffer a -1 penalty to the roll to see if their horses
or other mounts are stolen/lost at the settlement.
If the Settlement Event roll for an unwelcome warrior is an 'Uneventful
Day', roll again on the following table:
D6

Event
|
1 |
Lynch Mob
The locals decide that
they want nothing so much as to see you hanged, stabbed, drawn-and-quarted, or otherwise
killed. There are too many to fight, so you have no choice but to leave the settlement
immediately, leaving behind D6x100 gold in your haste. You can camp in the wilderness
nearby to wait for your companions, if necessary. |
2 |
Run Out of Town
No one will sell
to you or talk to you. The inns won't allow you to stay there. You have no choice but to
leave town immediately, camping in the wilderness nearby to wait for your companions, if
necessary. |
3 |
Theft
A clever thief steals one
of your treasures. You must give up one item of treasure. |
4 |
Fine
The local authorities levy
a fine on you for some (probably imaginary) offense. You must pay D6x50 gold. |
5 |
Fight
A local bully picks a
fight with you. Roll a D6 and add your Strength. If you roll 7 or higher, you win the
fight and go about your business. Otherwise, you are severely beaten and suffer a penalty
of -1 Toughness during the next adventure. |

It really is an uneventful day. |
